saibl Clients Scoop Annual DTI Technology Awards

Two saibl clients in the chemicals industry in Gauteng registered for the Department of Trade and Industry’s Annual Technology Awards competition in August 2010. This competition was entered by more than fifty Small and Medium Enterprises in the innovation and progress sector. Amelia Women Project of Johannesburg and XChem Chemicals of Centurion both made the final list of ten and then reached the top three. saibl was invited to the award ceremony at Gallagher Convention Center in Midrand on Thursday, 7 October. Xchem won first prize and the second prize was scooped by Amelia Women projects. saibl wishes to congratulate both clients on their achievement!

The purpose of the dti’s Annual Technology Awards is to raise awareness on the benefits of using technology to improve the competitiveness of enterprises, within the local and global arena. The Awards seek to recognise individuals and organisations for their consistent efforts in advancing and promoting technology interests and innovation by youth, women and emerging enterprises. The Technology Awards collectively encompass the achievements of three the dti technology programmes, namely the Support Programme for Industrial Innovation (SPII), managed by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC); Technology and Human Resource for Industry Programme (THRIP), managed by the National Research Foundation (NRF); and the Small Enterprise Development Agency (seda) Technology Programme (stp).
